Let’s talk about Dermaplaning!

I would love to review the benefits, the myths, and some of the most frequently asked questions!

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation using a blade & scalpel to slough off the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the face. It doesn’t hurt, the blade just lightly glides down all areas of the face sloughing off the dead skin cells, and as a special bonus – peach fuzz!

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Better product penetration

diminishes the look of fine lines & wrinkles

exfoliation of dead skin cells

removal of peach fuzz

immediate results

flawless, smooth skin

& much more!

What is the #1 biggest concern of Dermaplaning?

The most frequently asked question when it comes to Dermaplaning is – Won’t my hair come back darker/thicker?

No.

To put it simply – this is because the hair on our face differs from the hair on other parts of our body. The hair found on our face is called vellus hair AKA peach fuzz. Which means the hair will not grow back thicker or darker than before.

The hair that grows back thicker and darker is called terminal hair – which is a more coarse, thicker hair found on other parts of our body like for example our underarms or scalp.

Final thoughts on Dermaplaning!

I love Dermaplaning. I think it is a wonderful treatment for any skin type and it’s perfect if you are looking for immediate results! Whether you’re looking a little dry or want that “wow factor” and lots of compliments for a porcelain smooth makeup look – Dermaplaning has you covered! We recommend Dermaplaning every 3-4 weeks. The crazy thing is you can now Dermaplane yourself from the comfort of your own home.

You can find Dermaplaning blades HERE!

I do recommend the ones I have listed although I have not tried them all I believe these are the best at-home ones that I have come across. Otherwise, if you have a spa nearby I would recommend a professional!

Aftercare!

What happens after dermaplaning? You can expect to be sensitive and experience some redness. Suppose you went in to see a professional you can expect to have some serums applied followed by an SPF. If you are dermaplaning at home avoid the sun – otherwise, be sure to wear a hat and apply SPF as needed throughout the day. So make sure you attempt your dermaplaning at night and not on the day of an event but at least one day prior.

You can return to your normal product and makeup routine the next day!
